A Letter From Our Board

Dear Community Partner,

Parkinson’s Disease is the fastest growing neurological disorder in the world. It affects more than one million people in the United States and six million worldwide with more than 200 people newly diagnosed daily. Parkinson’s In Motion strives to reach, inform, and connect individuals touched by Parkinson’s with tools for self-help and with improvement to enhance quality of life. We also are committed to national efforts designed to end Parkinson’s diseases, the cause of which is now known to have a strong environmental component and almost no genetic factor. For the past 4 years our efforts to reach the under-served region throughout London and into the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky have flourished; furthermore, these efforts have garnered national attention. In October, four members from our leadership team were selected to attend the “All In Summit” in Washington, DC, where we saw the magic of connection and collaboration. Our founder and director, Jane Rice Williams, retired judge, diagnosed with PD in 2016, has been named as an ambassador for the PMD Alliance. She travels to the 6th World Parkinson’s Congress in Barcelona, Spain in July as a presenter to Support Group leaders. Additionally, her abstract has been selected for presentation of ideas and successful projects.

How exciting to compare our efforts to those around the world and see that in spite of being new to the game, Parkinson’s In Motion is ahead of the curve in forward thinking. Our first real fundraiser will be held on April 29, 2023 – a SK Run/Walk for all. Whether you sponsor the event or simply want to make a donation, the information is on the attached flier. Thank you for helping us further our mission.
